Bar fight leads to weapons charges

ANTIGONISH: RCMP have arrested a 21-year-old Antigonish County male for weapons possession following a fight at a local bar.

At 2:43 p.m., on December 12, Antigonish District RCMP responded to a report of a fight in progress at a pub on College Street.

“Several RCMP officers went to the scene and arrested several individuals. After a detailed investigation, a 21-year-old Antigonish County male was arrested,” Sgt. Warren McBeath said in a release. “Upon arrest, the male was found to be carrying two knives on his person.”

He now faces a number of assault and weapon-related charges including; possession of a weapon for a dangerous offence; assault; causing a disturbance; carrying a concealed weapon; and breach of probation.

The man was held in custody overnight and appeared in Antigonish Provincial Court on December 13.

The investigation is ongoing.
