D’ESCOUSSE: At 1:09 a.m. Sunday morning, two men entered a home on Highway 320 in the northside of Isle Madame.

The owner of the residence, his fiancee, adult son, and adult daughter were present in the home when he was assaulted by being struck with a firearm, and two shots were fired inside the residence, causing damage to the home.

The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of his injuries and was later released. No one else was injured. The victim and the suspects were known to each other.

The suspects left the scene in a vehicle that was later found in a ditch nearby. The suspects were tracked on foot by an RCMP Police Dog. One suspect was located at 5:25 a.m. and taken into custody without incident. At 9:44 a.m. the second suspect was located and taken into custody without incident as well.

Both suspects were taken to the Port Hawkesbury RCMP Detachment where the investigation is ongoing. Police expect to lay several charges against the two male suspects, who are both from Eskasoni, and are 20 and 23 years old. The charges will include robbery, assault with a weapon and firearms offences.

They were held in custody overnight and are scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court today.
