PAQ’TNKEK: Two men were arrested and charged and a third was sent to hospital following an incident last week in Antigonish County.
On June 14 at 1:06 a.m., Antigonish District RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault involving three males on a roadway.
An investigation followed by Antigonish District RCMP, with assistance by the RCMP Northeast Nova Major Crime Unit, that led to charges against two men. Thirty-six-year-old Michael Kane, and Nigel Henderson, age 27, both of Paq’tnkek, have been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and several breaches of court orders. Kane is facing an additional charge of uttering threats.
The 24-year-old victim from Antigonish was released from hospital on June 17. All of the men were known to one another.
Both men were arrested without incident and remain in custody. Kane was arrested June 14 in Paq’tnkek and is next scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on June 20 at 9:30 a.m. Henderson was arrested last Friday evening in Baddeck and was scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court Monday (June 18) at 9:30 a.m.
More charges are anticipated in this investigation.
