Long-time Port Hawkesbury McDonald’s staffer Adele Fox congratulated the Reeves Street outlet’s former manager, Darryl Roy, on receiving the 2017 McDonald’s Canada Outstanding Manager of the Year award during a celebration that took place last May. Roy oversaw operations at the Port Hawkesbury McDonald’s location for an 11-year period that recently concluded when he stepped away from his post due to health reasons.

PORT HAWKESBURY: McDonald’s Canada is excited to announce that Darryl Roy, manager of the McDonald’s Restaurant in Port Hawkesbury, has won a 2017 Outstanding Manager of the Year award, an accolade that recognizes the top performing managers across the country.

Roy is one of the very few 2017 Manager of the Year Award winners, a prize that recognizes the exceptional performance of McDonald’s restaurant managers across the country. This prestigious accolade is awarded to only 10 per cent of the best managers working across the 1,400 Canadian restaurants.

Every day Roy works diligently beside his crew members to serve quality food, with excellent service and warm smiles to restaurant guests. In addition, his significant contribution to employee growth, sales building, and local marketing and restaurant operations, continues to make a positive and strategic impact across the business.

“This is such an honour to be receiving this award that recognizes my efforts and all the hard work I have done,” said Roy. “It is extremely rewarding since I take a lot of pride doing my job. This award makes me even prouder to work at McDonald’s.”

Through a FaceTime connection to McDonald’s Canada president and chief executive officer John Betts (not pictured), Wayne Kenney (left), the owner-operator of Cape Breton’s McDonald’s franchises, was able to share the news that former Port Hawkesbury McDonald’s manager Darryl Roy was named the 2017 Outstanding Manager of the Year.

Darryl started working for McDonald’s 14 years ago at the same restaurant in Port Hawkesbury. He was first hired as a swing manager and got promoted to restaurant manager in June 2009. To him, team work is the key to success and people he works with are like his second family.

McDonald’s franchisees and regional management nominate restaurant managers for the Outstanding Manager of the Year award to recognize their hard work, dedication, and commitment to McDonald’s and its customers.

“Darryl Roy is outstanding manager of the year because of his passion for not only McDonald’s but the people that work there and the guests in the dining room,” said Trish O’Rourke, area supervisor. “Darryl’s personality is larger than life and he makes sure that everyone has a lot of fun working, which is important in any job. All the crew and managers respect him and enjoy working for him and that’s why the results in Port Hawkesbury have been outstanding year after year.”
