It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of David “Conrad” DeGruchy, 52, of Port Hastings, NS as a result of a tragic Motorcycle accident. Conrad was born August 17, 1965 and lived in Havre Boucher most of his life. Conrad had an infectious laugh and twinkling eyes. He was loved by everyone whose presence he graced. He had a personality that was larger than life and always made everyone feel important to him. He was intense, hard working, a mentor to so many and so very kind hearted. Conrad’s peers and family were so proud of the man who made sobriety his priority over the past 11 years. He lived by example and coached so many on making the right choices in life. Conrad was as solid as a rock and made others feel he would take care of them. Conrad lived his life to be an influential example for his 3 sons and everything he did for them was out of the utmost love. His boys were his world. Conrad chose 2 beautiful women who were mothers to his 3 children. Together, they made the boys their priority. Conrad was employed by Bay Tank and Vessel Canada Ltd at Nustar Terminals, Point Tupper site.  He was a Mechanic/ Equipment Operator, Labourer and everything in between.  Conrad was a dedicated hard working coworker and friend to all. He was a proud member of the Cape Breton Labourers Local 1115 and the Operating Engineers Local 721. Conrad was a founding member of The Highlanders Motorcycle Club in Havre Boucher in which he was a member for 20 years.  His Highlander Family were his brothers. Conrad is survived by his partner, Ashley Cass, children Avery, Jakob, and Quinten. Parents, Marcella and Charlie DeGruchy; Grandmother Cecelia Power,  Sisters Yolanda DeGruchy (Stewart), Charlene Pettipas (Michael), brother Richard DeGruchy,  Stephanie MacDonald (mother to Avery and Jakob), Nieces and Nephews Tiffany, Dylan, Morgan (Nicole), Kaitlin (Graham), Kristie (Marcie), Cassidy (Steven), Mitchell, Candace, and Richie (Laura). Also left to mourn are many Aunts, Uncles Cousins, and extended family members. Visitation was held at Green’s Funeral Home in Port Hawkesbury on Friday May 25 2018.  Funeral was held at St Paul Roman Catholic Church, Havre Boucher on Saturday May 26, 2018.
