First ever ‘Battle of the Bands’ at Strathspey Performing Arts Centre

MABOU: For the first time ever, a Battle of the Bands will take place on November 24 at 7 p.m. at the Strathspey Performing Arts Centre (SPAC).

In an effort to encourage and promote a variety of musical styles, music of all ages and particularly the idea of song-writing and instrumental compositions, Strathspey Performing Arts Centre is reaching out to all schools and communities throughout Inverness County in hopes of sparking interest and collaboration in the very first ever “Battle of the Bands” competition.

The idea involves an application process. Anyone can apply, as long as they have not done a professional recording to date. SPAC is hoping for many applications from a variety of age groups, solo and group efforts. All applications will be reviewed by a panel of judges, and five top bands will be chosen to “show down” at Strathspey later in November.

These five bands will compete for eight hours of recording time with sound engineer Rob Stone at Strathspey Performing Arts Centre in Mabou plus a logo design by Sara Rankin Creative. All participants will receive a free membership to Strathspey and a free demo recording from their performance, recorded live the night of their debut.

Well-known TV personality Cindy Day will be the host for Battle of the Bands, with the panel of judges Allie Bennett, Marilyn MacDonald-MacKinnon, and Andre Pettipas of Andre Pettipas & The Giants.

Strathspey Performing Arts Centre is encouraging all bands / individual artists to apply by completing the application form available on-line at:
