CANSO: A 26-year-old is facing five charges after he broke-in to a residence and assaulted two people last weekend.
Guysborough District RCMP responded to an incident at a residence in Canso on Sunday afternoon after receiving a call that a man broke-in to a home, assaulting both occupants before leaving. The victims, a 55-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, were not injured during the incident. This was an isolated incident as all three knew each other, the RCMP noted.
A 26-year-old man later turned himself in to RCMP at the Bible Hill Detachment where he was placed under arrest. He is facing charges of: break and enter in to a residence; assault with a weapon; assault; possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose; and uttering threats.
He was later released from custody and will appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on July 10.
The investigation is continuing.
