WEST BAY ROAD: A man from the Strait area has placed second in the 2017 Atlantic Road Racing League (ARL) season standings in the LWSS division on his Kawasaki motorcycle.

Avery Hart was sitting fourth in the Atlantic division standings after round 4, with 118 points, 12 points out of third, and 21 points behind the leader.

In the season’s final round, from September 23-24 in Shubenacadie, Hart a 24-year-old from West Bay Road, took top position in the LWSS class with first place finishes in Saturdays and Sundays races.

Hart struggled in Saturdays qualifying heat, crashing his motorcycle in lap 2, but quickly recovered the bike to finish with the fastest qualifying time. The put him in the pole position for Saturdays race 1, in which he took first place.

Sunday’s final race saw an amazing battle between Scott Alexander #56 and Mark Goodwin #34, but Hart once again finished in the top position.

This late season comeback put Hart in second place for the overall 2017 Atlantic Division standings, a mere three points behind the season winner, Scott Alexander.
