RICHMOND COUNTY: A big Monday night for the Isle Madame Mariners put them back on top of the RABA standings.
Last Monday, the Mariners reclaimed first place by dropping the Little Anse Hawks in a double header. The first game was 10-4, with Drake Boudreau serving as winning pitcher and Clem Fougere taking the loss.
Leading hitting for the Mariners were Joel Fougere and Jimmy Bungay, both going two-for-three, and Callum Boudreau going three-for-four with two RBIs. For the Hawks, Noah Landry had three singles on four at bats, and Tyler Babin and Brandon Boudreau both doubled up on RBIs.
Game two was an 8-6 Mariner win. The winning pitcher was Lloyd Samson, taking the loss was Babin.
For the Mariners, Dobson Boudreau homered and had two singles, and Dylan David had three RBIs. For Little Anse, Leigh Bourque drove in a pair of runs.
The two wins set the Mariners at 5-0, and edges them past the Inverness Athletics (5-1). In a double header last Saturday, the Athletics managed two home-field wins over the Red Caps. The first was 11-9 and the second was 3-2.
Rounding out the RABA standings are the Port Hawkesbury Bucs (2-2), the Hawks (2-4), the Petit de Grat Red Caps (1-4), and the St. Peter’s Royals (1-5).
Last night (Tuesday, July 3) the Red Caps were slated to host the Mariners, but that game took place after the Reporter’s deadline.

Also upcoming is a weekend special on July 13 and 14, as the Baseball Nova Scotia 17U Selects will come to Richmond County to play against two standout squads from the Richmond Amateur Baseball Association.
On Friday, July 13, the Selects will play the Mariners at 8 p.m. in Petit de Grat under the lights. On Saturday, July 14, the Selects will play the Little Anse Hawks at 11 a.m. in Petit de Grat.
The Selects have a fair bit of local talent on the squad, including St. Peter’s native Cooper Fraser, and Tim Mann, Tyler Boudreau, and Keigan Murin, all of whom have connections to the county.
