The Strait area received some good news recently as it was announced that the Dundee Resort and Golf Club has new ownership.
On June 1, long-time owner Scott MacAulay passed the keys to new owner Sonny Grewal, who recently relocated from Texas and has dual citizenship. Grewal plans to make Dundee a seasonal home.
Grewal and his business partner and brother Sumer said they were excited to take over, a sentiment echoed by the facility’s staff.
Under this new leadership, the Dundee Resort wants to position itself as a true destination resort, considering the growing demand for accommodations around Cape Breton. To accomplish this, construction has already started to make upgrades to the golf course and resort, and there are plans to provide complimentary recreation activities for guests of all ages, in addition to providing guests with great food and weekend entertainment.
News of this ownership change comes at a pivotal time for the Richmond County facility as the resort and golf course have started showing their age in recent years, and as other attractions bring even more visitors to the region.
The former owner had been searching for someone to take over for some time, and this change at this time was welcome.
With the Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs, along with existing golf courses, bringing more people to the area from around the world and especially other parts of North America, Dundee is well positioned to take advantage of this increased profile.
Situated along the Bras d’Or Lake, the resort and golf course can offer visitors a wide variety of activities and attractions, and the fact that there are upgrades taking place demonstrates that the new owners are serious about securing a brighter future.
The resort and golf course are an integral part of local tourism infrastructure, and having it renewed can only mean big things for the local economy and those who choose to visit.
