MONCTON: It was a tough weekend for the Nova Major bantams as they lost both games on a road trip.
On Saturday, the Novas and the Dartmouth Whalers played a scoreless 40 minutes before the Whalers knocked in four goals in the final stanza.
On Sunday, the Novas fell 6-2 to the All Credit Auto Rangers. The Novas held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in the first period but the Rangers tied things up before the first intermission and exploded for three goals in the second period and one in the third.
The Novas have three wins and five losses so far this year.
While it was a rough weekend for Mike Stewart’s team, he says such weekends will make the team stronger.
“We are a young team adjusting to the league and learning lessons to not take teams for granted in the case of Dartmouth,” said Stewart. [The] effort versus ACA was better but need to take what is being covered in practice and apply it to games.”
The Novas are now gearing up for another road trip this weekend, taking on the South Shore Major Bantam Lumberjacks on Saturday and Sunday.
