Nutrition and good taste at the Port Hood Co-op

Naturopathic Doctor Glenna Calder (left) and Masterchef Canada contestant Debbie MacDonell-MacDonald put on a display of healthy cooking last Thursday night at the Port Hood Co-op. March is Nutrition Month, and Calder said it was a great time to show that nutrition and taste can go hand-in-hand.

Janet McManus, the newly-minted manager of the Port Hood Co-op, helped serve guests at last week’s healthy eating demo.
Arancini, cheese-stuffed risotto balls coated with Panko crumbs, were one of two apps cooked up by Debbie MacDonell-MacDonald at the nutritional cooking demo. She also dished up stuffed mushrooms.
Glenna Calder, a Port Hood-native and naturopathic doctor, served up some coconut brownie bites to top of last Thursday’s nutritional demo.
Mango salsa was one of the appetizers dished out last Thursday. The dish was the speciality of Nutritionist Suzy Gilliespie.
