RABA action continues

RICHMOND: With regular season play in the Richmond Amateur Baseball Association (RABA) winding down, the Inverness Athletics (9-3) lead the local league.

Isle Madame Mariners (10-6) and the Little Anse Hawks (9-8) are in striking distance of first place.

Rounding out the league are the Petit de Grat Red Caps (7-11), the St. Peter’s Royals (6-9), and the Port Hawkesbury Bucs (6-10).

On Tuesday of last week, the Royals and the Hawks split a double header.

In the first game, Vince Pottie pitched seven innings for a 7-6 Royals win. Mitchel Farrell took the loss. Noel Jeffrey had a great game for St. Peter’s, going four-for-four with an RBI and two runs. For Little Anse, Noah Landry was three-for-four with three RBIs and a run.

The second game was an 11-0 Little Anse win.

Clem Fougere tossed nine strikeouts and allowed zero runs for the win on the mound. Taking the loss was Bryson Wire.

Leading the way for Little Anse were Justin Delorey, going one-for-one with three RBIs; Clem Fougere, going three-for-four with two RBIs; and Noah Landry, with three singles and three runs.

Weldon MacPhail had a good game for St. Peter’s, going one-for-two with a stolen base.

Upcoming games include a doubleheader tonight (August 8) at the Petit de Grat Ballfield with the Bucs visiting the Hawks. Action starts at 6 p.m.

On Thursday, August 9, the Royals host the Mariners at 6 p.m. On Tuesday, August 14, the Hawks visit the Royals for a 6 p.m. start.
