ST. PETER’S: Team representatives and the Richmond Amateur Baseball Association (RABA) executive met Sunday afternoon in St. Peter’s for the 2017 annual general meeting.
Highlights for the 2018 season include seven-inning games and a year-end tournament to determine league champion.
RABA president Bruce Joshua explained that these decisions were made after team representatives voted on the proposals.
For the play-offs, “several options” were proposed but Joshua explained that the teams asked for time to decide the final format at the RABA’s spring meeting.
Also from last weekend’s meeting, the Louisdale Baracos were granted a leave of absence for the second consecutive season, and as a result, the league will once again be a six-team circuit next year.
The current league executive will return for the 2018 season, including Joshua as president, Don Boudrot secretary-treasurer, and Ed Bungay as umpire-in-chief.
“We are seeking to add a vice-president at our spring meeting,” Joshua wrote in an e-mail. “Interested parties should communicate with a member of the league executive to obtain more details and advance their name as a candidate.”
