RCMP checkpoint nets drugs, results in arrests

MABOU: Four people were arrested and charged and police found drugs during a vehicle checkpoint last weekend in Inverness County.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on September 9, Inverness County District RCMP conducted a checkpoint in Mabou.

During the checkpoint, a small quantity of cocaine was seized from a 36-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both of Mabou. They were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

A 34-year-old man of Shubenacadie was arrested and charged for possession for the purpose of trafficking (marijuana and cocaine). A quantity of cocaine, marijuana, cash, and drug paraphernalia were seized from his vehicle.

The checkpoint also resulted in a 54-year-old man from Mabou being arrested for driving while impaired.

All individuals were released and are scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on October 30.
