Richmond Academy hosts boys baseball provincials

LOUISDALE: Richmond Academy hosted the Nova Scotia Schools Athletic Federation Division 2 Provincial Championships in boys baseball on the weekend of March 13-14.

The Hurricane earned the right to host provincials after beating Springhill 4-3 on October 6 to take the Highland Region Division 2 banner.

Along with Richmond Academy, which went 1-2 on the weekend, the tournament included teams from Amherst, Par-en and Eastern Shore District High playing at ballfields in Louisdale and Petit de Grat.

On October 13 Richmond beat ESDH 9-5 in the first game of the tournament, then lost 18-1 to Par-en-Bas and 11-3 to the eventual champion Amherst.

The Hurricane team consisted of: assistant coach Shawn Samson; head coach Brad Stevens; Lachlan Boudreau; Dobson Boudreau; Temeka Stevens; Colton Forgeron; Bryson Wyre; Andrew Skinner; Xavier Sampson; Brayden Marchand; Liam Burt; Trent Diggdon; Isaac McDonald; Luke Sampson; and Ellie MacAulay.
