LOUISDALE: Michel Samson, MLA for Cape Breton-Richmond, on behalf of Tony Ince, Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage, recently announced $50,000 in provincial funding for the St. Louis Parish Hall in Louisdale.

The announcement was made on September 17. District 6 councillor Brian Marchand also contributed $15,000 to the project through his Municipal District Fund.

The funding was received through the Community Facilities Improvement Program of the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage. The program’s aim is to assist local not-for-profits improve their existing cultural facilities. Work at the hall will include electrical panel replacement, light repairs, ceiling tile replacement, door repairs, a new dishwasher and cupboards, a new heat pump, and other improvements.

“It was a great honour to make this announcement and reaffirm government support for St. Louis Parish Hall,” Samson said.

“It’s not an exaggeration to say that facilities like St. Louis Parish Hall are the centre of many communities in our area. Whether it’s providing meeting space for any number of local organizations or hosting key community events, the facility is an essential part of cultural life in Louisdale. I’m happy to see that St. Louis Parish Hall will continue to play that role for years to come. ”
