Three arrests result from pepper-spray assault

ANTIGONISH: The RCMP has arrested three males resulting from an assault where pepper spray was used on two victims.

The incident occurred on March 24 on Notre Dame Avenue in Antigonish. The investigation by Antigonish District RCMP has revealed that there was a verbal argument, which escalated into a physical assault, when two male victims were sprayed with pepper spray. Both victims were transported to hospital, and were treated and released for non life-threatening injuries.

Antigonish District RCMP was assisted by members of Cheticamp and Baddeck RCMP, and three people have been arrested in relation to this incident. An 18-year-old male from St. Joseph-du-Moine is  facing a single charge of assault; a 17-year-old male from Baddeck is facing a single charge of assault; and a 16-year-old male from Nyanza is facing two counts of assault with a weapon.

All of the individuals who were arrested have been released from custody, placed on strict conditions, and are scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court and Antigonish Youth Justice Court on June 27.
