Pictured in the foreground are a fir tree and its growing companion, a spruce, which have adjusted well to their new locations on the Bates’ property after being relocated in the late fall of 2019. With three growing seasons to establish their root systems, the fir has grown 48.26 centimetres this year and the spruce 33.02 cm.
