PORT ROYAL: Larry Keating is in the running for Richmond Municipal Council’s district 2.
“I have the vision and initiative to propose and execute new ideas, to increase our economy and promise a better standard of living for all Richmond County residents,” Keating said in a press release.

Keating proposed implementing the Richmond Annual Income Supplement Emergency (RAISE) initiative in Richmond County.

“My first priority will be to initiate the RAISE program, an emergency fund to raise the economic standard of living for all Richmond residents who struggle to live below the poverty level,” Keating stated.

Another priority is the preservation of the courthouse in Arichat.

“We shall keep our Arichat courthouse and make it into a community arts and youth centre,” the first time candidate promised.

Another goal for Keating is provide a place to camp on Isle Madame and improvements to local beaches and waterways.

“We will create a new campsite which will employ local residents and provide a place for tourists to visit our community and stay awhile,” he noted. “We will build wheelchair accessible boardwalks on our beaches and waterways.”

Keating also plans to create community gardens and increase the amount of work locally for students.

“We will have a community garden for all residents of Richmond to plant and grow vegetables for their families,” he said.

“We will create four summer jobs for students in summer to help our seniors with lawn care, clean litter from beaches and our roads, among other duties.”

“This is what can happen when we come together.”

Keating added that he will deliver the change voters want.

“You want change. I want change. Immediate change… not in years to come but beginning October 15.”
