As someone who attended every concert of Nova Scotia Summer Fest, I was heartbroken to learn that the festival is officially ceasing operations. It feels like the end of an era – not just for music lovers like me, but for the entire community that came alive every summer in Antigonish.
From the very first show at Keppoch Mountain, Summer Fest brought something special to our small town – an energy that was electric and unforgettable. We danced in the sunshine, sang along under the stars, and made memories that will last a lifetime. I’ve watched families grow, friendships form, and local talent shine alongside national headliners. It wasn’t just about the music; it was about coming together.
What made Summer Fest so unique was its heart. You could feel it in every performance, every volunteer’s smile, every bite of local food, and every laugh shared with strangers who quickly became friends. It celebrated what makes this part of Nova Scotia beautiful – its people, its culture, and its sense of belonging.
To the organizers, artists, vendors, and volunteers – thank you. To Ray Mattie – thank you for giving us five unforgettable years. I hope you know how much joy you brought to so many.
It’s hard to say goodbye to something that brought so much life to our summers. But I’ll always be grateful I got to be part of it.
