As the May long weekend comes to a close, I find myself feeling refreshed, optimistic, and genuinely excited for the season ahead. There’s something truly special about this unofficial kickoff to summer in Nova Scotia.

Whether it was firing up the barbecue, heading to the beach, planting in the garden, or just taking time to relax with family and friends, this past weekend was a much-needed reminder of the simple joys that come with warmer weather and longer days.

In communities like ours, the May long weekend isn’t just a holiday – it’s a cultural reset. It’s a time when neighbours reconnect, local trails see more foot traffic, and families begin making plans for the many festivals, farmers’ markets, and community events on the horizon.

After a long winter and a busy spring, I think many of us appreciated the opportunity to slow down and embrace the natural beauty that surrounds us. It’s weekends like this that make us grateful to live where we do – and give us a renewed sense of energy for the months ahead.

Here’s to a summer full of good company, local adventures, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime.
