Pirates lose a pair

 

PORT HAWKESBURY: The Junior Pirates were unable to scare up two points either last Friday night against the East Hants Penguins or last Saturday when visiting the Liverpool Privateers.

On Friday, Max Morrison connected for two goals in what was destine to be a 3-2 final. Managing helpers were Troy Hillier, Joseph MacDonald, and Cody Hinkley.

Pirate goalie Mike O’Reilly stopped 24 of 26 shots. East Hants also scored on an empty net.

On Saturday night, Strait backstop Matthew Stymest faced 33 shots and his teammate Floyd MacDonald threw knuckles with Liverpool’s Derek Nelson. The final was 8-5.

Hinkley had a four-point game, divided between two goals and two assists; Randon MacKinnon had a goal and two helpers, and Nathan Hayes had a goal and assist. Morrision had two assists, and MacDonnell had a goal. Kirkland Bernard and Axel Poirier both had an assist.

This Friday, the Pirates host the Privateers at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Strait visits Glace Bay.straitpirates182straitpirates263
