Photos by Grant McDanielThe Port Hood and District Volunteer Fire Department had Santa Claus riding shotgun during the annual Christmas Parade in Port Hood. The well-lit fire engine is seen here edging off the low road onto Main Street. J.R. MacDonald and the management of the Port Hood Home Hardware added this giant snowman to their staff to help with the Christmas rush. The snowman made his debut on December 2. The good folks at the Ceilidh Fishermen’s Co-op took to the street last Sunday night as a part of the Christmas by the Sea Port Hood Parade. Spreading the message of helping to keep kids warm during the winter was a message passed during the weekend parade. The message of this float is to make sure the spiritual side of Christmas is preserved. All kinds of transportation was used during the Christmas by the Sea parade. Reaching Strides Equestrian Centre had the ponies out for a trot last weekend, as a part of Christmas by the Sea in Port Hood. Owner Nadine Bollig leads the procession with Emma VanZutphen riding spotted horse Sassy. To Sassy’s side is Rusty with Elizabeth Lawrence and Gracie VanZutphen in the cart. No one seemed to mind the nip in the air last Sunday as Christmas by the Sea took place in Port Hood. Musicians performed in Central Park for everyone’s entertainment following the annual parade.
