EAST HANTS: Helped along by a three-goal first period, the East Hants Penguins skated to a 5-2 win last Friday night at the expense of the Junior Pirates.

Although the Pirates usually have their home games on Friday night, the Strait was on the road, due in part to the opening concert of the Celtic Colours International Festival.

The weekend leaves the Pirates at 2-3-0-1.

The Pirates’ two goals came in the second frame, with Joey Ramsay (unassisted) and Jake Maclellan (from Randon MacKinnon) both scoring. Maclellan scored on the power play.

Matthew Stymest stopped 28 of 33 shots.

The Strait has another crack at the Penguins this Friday, as the maroon and white hosts them at the Civic Centre at 7:30 p.m.
