SYDNEY: Lobster-licious, a new culinary event featuring non-traditional and innovative lobster dishes, was launched at 19 food establishments across Cape Breton Island last Saturday, July 4. The event will run until July 26, with each food operator featuring at least one innovative lobster dish daily during that period.
“Lobster-licious is a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to experience the culinary talents of our Island’s chefs and cooks,” says Terry Smith, CEO of Destination Cape Breton. “Just reading the descriptions of the various dishes will make any lobster lover’s mouth water.”
To encourage residents and visitors to try a variety of these dishes, a passport contest will be used whereby a stamp will be provided for purchasing a featured dish at one of the participating food establishments. With three stamps, patrons are entered into a draw for a Gourmet Getaway that has been assembled by Cabot Discovery Tours that includes two gourmet dinners and two nights’ accommodation. Each additional stamp beyond the minimum three gives patrons an additional entry.
“We’re having fun with Nova Scotia lobster,” says Daryl MacDonnell, head chef at Woodroad. “I’m really looking forward to seeing guests stop in to try our Lobster-licious dish—it’s going to be a great event.”
Lobster-licious passports can be picked up at participating food operators or at Cape Breton Island visitor information centres. For more information on Lobster-licious and a list of participating food operators and featured lobster dishes, visit: https://www.cbisland.com/lobster-licious/.
