Mother and son awarded ministerial commendations for the first time ever

    Proud family, friends and well wishers gave Cpl. Kate MacEachern a hero’s welcome when she returned to her old stomping grounds in Antigonish. MacEachern marched from CFB Gagetown all the way home to help raise money for “Soldier On,” a Canadian Armed Forces initiative which helps serving and retired personnel with permanent and chronic illness or injuries take part in sports and maintain a physically active lifestyle.

    ANTIGONISH: For the very first time in the history of Canada, Commendations of the Federal Minister of Veterans Affairs were presented to a mother and son for their efforts. Retired Cpl. Kate MacEachern and her son, Cadet Sgt. Tyler MacEachern, received the extraordinary honour during the Antigonish Legion’s annual veteran’s dinner on November 2, 2019….
