ANTIGONISH: On June 15 and 16, in partnership between the Seniors Getting Involved Association, the Town of Antigonish Recreation and Antigonish County Recreation, the ninth annual Antigonish 55+ Games will be held in Antigonish and St. Andrew’s.

People from all communities and counties are more than welcome to come and participate.

The event promotes mental, social and physical well-being, specifically those over 55-years-old and older. Activities this year will include an 8-ball pool tournament, bowling, card games, darts, walking and running competitions, shuffleboard, floor curling, pickleball, washer toss, bean bag toss, newfie toss (ladder golf), and bocce ball. Every activity has a medal for first, second, and third place.

On Friday, June 15, the Games are centered in and around Antigonish.

On Saturday, June 16, the Games are all within the St. Andrew’s community. Also, on Saturday in St. Andrew’s, there is a lunch and banquet-style supper with entertainment from the Remmie Brothers and One Stop Entertainment.

Fees for the event are as follows: $10 (Activities only), $15 (Activities and Saturday lunch), $25 (Activities, Saturday lunch, and Saturday banquet: EARLY BIRD, on or before June 1); and $30 (Activities, Saturday lunch, and Saturday banquet: after early bird deadline).

The 2018 Games registration deadline is approaching fast. Early bird registration is due on or before June 1, and normal registration is due June 8.
