The seventh annual Kenzie Beaton Memorial Hockey Tournament took place just days before Christmas at the Mabou Athletic Centre, and the event wasn’t without some hockey elite including Declan Smith and Jessica Wong. Smith is a former Cape Breton West Islander now serving as captain of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, and Wong is a standout in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League. Local elites were also taking part in the opening faceoff including Kenzie’s parents, A.J. and Debbie, along with a number of younger family members.
