Timeless Florals & Finds hosted an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on December 7.

ST. PETER’S: Another trio of businesses has added to the shopping landscape in St. Peter’s.

Celebrating with an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on December 7 were Timeless Florals & Finds, Steff’s Celtic Gifts, and Oceanview Wellness Centre, located in the new commercial mall on Grenville Street.

A large crowd was in attendance to tour the new spaces and congratulate the owners and staff; a contingent of proud, all-female entrepreneurs who are adding to the town’s thriving main drag.

Timeless Florals & Finds offers modern giftware and floral arrangements, and owner Danielle Marshall – a first-time business owner – is enthusiastic about the opportunity to be part of the shopping scene.

“It feels great to open a business in St. Peter’s,” she remarked. “I’ve always been proud of where I come from and to help grow the business community in the village is something I’m really excited about.”

Stephanie Stone hosted an open house and official opening on December 7 for her business Steff’s Celtic Gifts which is located on Grenville Street in St. Peter’s.

Stephanie Stone first opened her gift shop and nutrition store in 2016 at a location across the road from the new location, and she welcomed the opportunity to move into a new space. The newly-branded Steff’s Celtic Gifts has expanded its product offerings and the location has seen an increase in business – a trend she expects to continue as time goes on.

“We get a lot more foot traffic coming through and lots coming to check us out while they wait for their pizzas or after getting some coffee next door,” Stone said. “So now with the whole building being full, I think we’ll see even more of an increase [in customers], especially in the summer months.”

An official opening and ribbon cutting was held for Oceanview Wellness Centre, which will also be located in the new commercial mall on the main drag in St. Peter’s.

Those sentiments are shared by adjacent shop Oceanview Wellness Centre’s owner, Tracy Mariner.

“It’s overwhelming how quickly we’ve grown,” Mariner recalled. “I opened Oceanview in the fall of 2018 out of a small house in St. Peter’s, and after about 10 months, we quickly realized we had grown out of it and needed a bigger space.”

Construction on the interior of the new location started in August and now boasts a comfortable and modern space to accommodate the staff of massage therapy and aesthetic service providers, including Cape Breton’s only Manual Osteopathic practitioner. After less than a month at the new address, Mariner has noticed a significant increase in traffic and bookings.

Customers had rave reviews for the staff and the product offerings at the successful grand opening, and all three shop owners are optimistic that their move to the mall will continue to make a positive contribution to the village of St. Peter’s as their businesses grow.

“I feel honoured to be able to open a business in my home town,” Mariner added. “I love this place and have never wanted to leave so I consider myself very lucky.”
