Search resumes for missing man

MONASTERY: The search for a man who went missing late last month resumed on the weekend.

On Sunday, Antigonish District RCMP confirmed they restarted their search for 23-year-old Craig Joseph Perry.

The RCMP said favourable weather and ice flow conditions allowed the search to continue after it was suspended on February 20.

The search is assisted by Strait Area Ground Search and Rescue, Larry’s River and District Volunteer Fire Department, the Pomquet Volunteer Fire Department and the Emergency Services Department and a helicopter from the Department of Natural Resources.

On February 18, RCMP received a complaint of an abandoned vehicle on East Tracadie Road, at Barrios Beach. Perry, who is the owner of the vehicle, was last seen on that date when he left a residence in Linwood.

Perry is described as a white male with short black hair and a long black beard. He is six-feet, five inches in height and weighs 165 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie with pink writing on it and a black winter jacket with leather sleeves.

Antigonish District RCMP is asking anyone who has information about the whereabouts of Perry to contact them at 902 863-6500. Those who wish to remain anonymous, can call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), text TIP202 plus a message to ‘CRIMES’ (274637) or by secure on-line tips at: www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
