CANSO: The Canso Lions Clubs’ fall activities are underway and supported by the induction of two new members.
On October 19, King Lion Janet Delorey welcomed Dave and Roberta Parker to the Canso Lions Club. New Lion Dave will begin helping with the weekly TV Bingos.
Lion Barry Lumsden reported that orders from residents for the fall fish sales are encouraging and the fish will be delivered on October 28.
The annual Tag Day for the Canadian Diabetes Association will be held at the Canso Co-op from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Club 100 draw will be held on October 25 with proceeds for the Canso Academy Scholarship awards.
Lion Emily Lumsden reported that the weekly drop-in darts on Tuesdays and card plays on Thursdays have resumed with new members from the public. The Lions Club has agreed to cater several Christmas meals in November and December.
The Canso Lions members took time during the regular meeting to remember the late Lion Joe Richard in a Lion’s Memorial Service attended by family members. The Lion’s plaque was unveiled containing Richard’s name along with other deceased Lions.
The Canso Lions Club welcomes new members to help with community projects. On November 2 the Canso Lions will host the zone meeting for area Lions Clubs.
