At the regular monthly meeting of Antigonish Municipal Council on Feb. 14, several members of the Antigonish County and St. Andrew’s Volunteer Fire Departments were presented with long service medals. Receiving medals for 30 years of service with the ACVFD were (in no particular order): Allan Kennedy, Willie MacIsaac, Brian MacDonald, and Hugh MacFarlane. Getting the 35 year service medal were Graham Chisholm, John Kennedy, Brendan MacInnis, George Girroir, Roddie MacDonald, Doug MacLean, Glen Tate, and Keith Trenholm. David Sweet received a medal for his 45 years of service with the department. For the St. Andrew’s department, Henry Overmars received a medal for 30 years of service, Benny Ten Brinke received a medal for 40 years of service, and George Landry received a medal for 45 years of service.
