CHÉTICAMP: The Municipality of Inverness County is celebrating the outstanding dedication of community volunteers, with this week’s spotlight shining brightly on Darlene Boudreau of Chéticamp.

Boudreau has been named Inverness County’s representative for the upcoming 51st Annual Provincial Volunteer Awards Celebration, to be held this September. Nominated by the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre Auxiliary, Boudreau is being recognized for over a decade of committed volunteer service that exemplifies the spirit of giving back.

“We are proud to have Darlene represent Inverness County at the provincial celebration, as she exemplifies the true meaning of volunteerism,” said municipal officials in the announcement.

As a longtime and active member of the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre Auxiliary, Boudreau is a familiar face at monthly meetings and regularly attends the Eastern Region’s Annual General Meetings. Her efforts have played a key role in helping raise funds for vital hospital equipment and medical supplies, benefitting not only Sacred Heart Community Health Centre but also Foyer Père Fiset, the Dialysis and Occupational Therapy Departments, and the Hospital Equipment Loan Program.

Those who have worked with Boudreau note her dedication to detail in organizing fundraising events and community outreach. She’s known for reserving facilities, rallying volunteers for baked goods and supplies, and ensuring that events run smoothly.

Beyond fundraising, Boudreau takes on the compassionate task of preparing and supplying hospital patient rooms with toiletries. She also delivers cards of support and sympathy on behalf of the auxiliary to patients and community members facing illness, surgery, or loss.

Her thoughtful and hands-on approach has made a lasting impact on patients, families, and the broader healthcare community in Chéticamp.

The provincial awards ceremony this fall will gather volunteers from across Nova Scotia, celebrating the generosity and service that enrich communities.
