FEIS 2016: ‘Midwives & Moonshine’

PORT HAWKESBURY: The 15th annual FEIS, a fundraiser in support of adult literacy in the Town of Port Hawkesbury, as well as of Nova Scotian authors, will take place this week.
On November 3, “FEIS 2016: Midwives & Moonshine,” hosted by the Port Hawkesbury Literacy Council, will take place in the Bear Head Conference Room. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the buffet dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.
After a silent auction, guest authors will make short presentations about themselves, the writing process, and their inspirations, and include a short reading from their books.
They include Ami McKay, who is the author of The Virgin Cure and most recently, The Witches of New York. Her book, The Birth House, was a #1 best seller in Canada, winner of three CBA Libris Awards, nominated for an IMPAC Dublin Literacy Award, and is a book club favourite around the world.
Former Cape Breton Regional Municipality Mayor David Muise identifies himself as a “recovering politician,” a lawyer and author of Awake at a Wake and Awake Yet?
Tickets can be purchased at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre Box Office, (902) 625-2591, or by contacting Crystal Samson or Taralee Wood at the Port Hawkesbury Literacy Council at (902) 625-1599.
