PORT HOOD: In a meeting dominated by the removal and election of the warden and deputy warden, Inverness Municipal Council still made time to green light funding requests from local groups.
Asking for a bit of financial help were Mill Road Social Enterprises of Inverness, along with Cameron Hall and the Christmas in the Village Association, both operating out of Whycocomagh.
The municipality will give the Mill Road group $25,475 for costs associated with Phase II of their social enterprise. The funding is contingent on the project meeting certain requirements related to its program.
Cameron Hall will be receiving funding as well, but the amount is to be determined. The funding is contingent on Cameron Hall garnering other funding partners.
Council has also earmarked $2,500 for Christmas in the Village.
Funding for the Whycocomagh groups comes from the District 4 Community Development Fund. The funding for Mill Road Social Enterprises comes from the municipality’s gas tax funds.
On the subject of money, council also signed on for continued service with East Coast Credit Union.
Council approved its service contract with the credit union, as well as its credit agreement and borrowing resolution.
