PORT HOOD: The Cape Breton West Islanders made it to the quarterfinals of the Major Midget division of the Monctonian AAA Challenge last Sunday when coming out on the low side of a 5-4 final with the Cole Harbour Wolfpack.

Despite scoring his second of two goals with eight seconds left in the third, Logan Timmons and the rest of the Islanders were unable to catch the Wolfpack and Timmons had two goals, while Craig Ryan had a goal and assist for the Islander cause. Jacob Stewart also chipped in a goal, while playing set-up men were Avery Warner, Jack Morris and Ryan MacLellan.

Ewan MacDonald was the Islander backstop.

This weekend, the Islanders visit New Brunswick for a pair of games in interleague play. On Saturday, the guys have the Saint John Vitos and on Sunday, the guys battle the Fredericton Canadians.
