PORT HOOD: The Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) is developing a 311 customer contact centre, which will provide folks with a non-emergency number to help folks find out about CBRM services and programs, and the matter arose at Inverness County’s committee-of-the-whole meeting on December 12.
CAO Keith MacDonald said the CBRM municipal leaders want to make sure Inverness County is okay with the contact centre fielding 311 calls from the western side of the island.
“They’ll redirect that call to our main number,” MacDonald said. “CBRM wanted council to reflect on that.”
Councillor Laurie Cranton asked if there was any cost, and MacDonald said no.
The committee-of-the-whole didn’t seem to have any issue with CBRM’s service. The committee-of-the-whole will make a recommendation to council during next January’s meeting.
