PORT HAWKESBURY: NuStar and its employees continued with their commitment to make a positive difference in surrounding communities by hosting the sixth annual Fairways to Success Charity Golf Classic at the Dundee Resort and Golf Club in August.

This year, the event will donate $80,000 to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Chapter, which marks over $425,000 given to local charities in the past six years.

“It’s a great feeling to know that this event has helped put smiles on the faces of some brave children,” said Blaise MacDonnell, GM of the Point Tupper Terminal.

“Once again, the success of the tournament has exceeded our expectations thanks to the support of our employees, vendors, customers and friends of NuStar in Point Tupper.”

The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is the largest all-Canadian wish-granting charity dedicated to granting wishes to Canadian children between the ages of three and 17 who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. For more than 30 years, Children’s Wish has worked tirelessly to grant heartfelt wishes to nearly 25,000 children and their families.

Last year, Children’s Wish granted nearly 1,200 wishes, the largest wish-granting year in the group’s 32-year history. With the help of generous donors and volunteers, the foundation will continue to meet the increasing need of Canadian children to realize their single-most heartfelt wish.

Children’s Wish grants approximately three wishes each and every day, all year long.

In Nova Scotia, almost 1,100 wishes were granted so far and 78 are being worked on at this moment. Each wish is the child’s most heartfelt wish, and carefully structured to meet the particular needs of the child and their family.

Already this year, the foundation is experiencing unprecedented increases of wish referrals through its strong medical community relationships for wishes granted to children with life-threatening illnesses.

Now more than ever, Canadians are encouraged to donate and support The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada to help continue to grant the next most heartfelt wish. Children’s Wish is a national charity with chapters in every province and territory. Visit www.childrenswish.ca for more information and to donate.
