PORT HAWKESBURY: A 22-year-old Port Hawkesbury man who was wanted on a province-wide arrest warrant has been arrested safely.

According to information provided by the RCMP, they attempted several times to locate Nicholas George Lush before requesting the public’s assistance in a Jan. 19 media release, where he was arrested in Port Hastings.

“The RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance, including shares on social media,” RCMP Public Information Officer Sgt. Andrew Joyce said in a Jan. 20 statement.

Lush has ben charged with four counts of breach of a recognizance, two counts of assault, two counts of mischief, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order and overcoming resistance to a commission of an offence by choking.

RCMP suggest the charges are in connection with an assault that occurred against someone known to him in Port Hawkesbury on Jan. 14.

“To protect the identity of the victim, these are the only details we can provide at this time,” RCMP Public Information Officer Const. Dominic Laflamme told The Reporter on Jan. 22.
