RCMP lays out charges against man facing sex charges dating back to 1960s involving children as young as 4

HALIFAX: The RCMP has laid out the charges against an Isle Madame man facing 12 sex counts dating back to the 1960s, involving children as young as four.

On May 9, Richmond District RCMP announced it completed an eight-month investigation into allegations of sexual assault against 90-year-old Delmore Boudreau, of Petit de Grat.

Nova Scotia RCMP Media Relations Officer, Cpl. Jennifer Clarke, said an investigation was initiated after a victim came forward to police in September, 2017. Cpl. Clarke explained that it was a “detailed investigation” that involved working with other police agencies because some victims do not reside in the area.

As the investigation progressed, the RCMP said a total of nine victims were identified with some coming forward on their own, and others after being approached by police.

As a result, 12 charges involving sexual offences were laid by the RCMP. The victims were between the ages of four and 12 at the time of the offences, which occurred between 1966 and 1986 on Isle Madame, the RCMP confirmed.

On May 16, Cpl. Clarke confirmed Boudreau is facing six counts of indecent assault; two counts of sexual intercourse with a minor; three counts of indecent assault; and one count of sexual assault.

Although, the RCMP do not expect to lay more charges against Boudreau, Cpl. Clarke added that was a possibility if more victims come forward. Anyone who has more information about these offences is asked to contact the RCMP in West Arichat at 902-226-2533.

Boudreau is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on May 28.
