GUYSBOROUGH: In October, council for the Municipality of the District of Guysborough selected the company that will build the turf sports field and surrounding running track portions of the proposed Chedabucto Lifestyle Centre.
“There were two that were bottom line and we decided who we prefer,” said Pitts, noting factors involved in the decisions include cost and the materials being used.
“That will not be awarded or tendered until council makes that [final] decision, which will be very early come this spring.”
In May, Municipality of the District of Guysborough council members voted to spend $60,000 on early site preparation on the proposed recreation facility, a $10.92 million Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex across from the Chedabucto Education Centre/Academy and adjacent to the existing tennis courts in Guysborough.
The proposed facility would include a refrigerated skating trail, a shinny rink, a artificial turf soccer field with four lane running track, the Drysdale Softball field, and a community building housing the Chedabucto Fitness Centre, community meeting/event spaces, Recreation Department office space, an elementary-sized gymnasium, and a home for the Guysborough Options for Adaptive Living Society (GOALS).
