ARICHAT: The St. Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre auxiliary’s fall fundraising campaign is in full swing.

The annual effort, which launched Sept. 21, will continue until Sunday, Dec. 31.

“So far, it has gone well; it is coming along,” Auxiliary Chair Jeannette Ellis told The Reporter.

In 2023, proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the purchase of laboratory equipment.

“Everyone is always very generous,” Ellis said.

When it comes to a goal for this year’s campaign, she noted that the auxiliary never targets a particular dollar amount.

Over the years, the auxiliary has made almost $250,000 in purchases for the centre. Most recently, the group – 18 members strong – donated $50,000 towards buying X-ray equipment.

The contributions may be small and large – in terms of cost – but all equally as important to the care and comfort of residents. For instance, Ellis noted, the auxiliary purchases a gift for every resident at Christmas, along with financing other activities throughout the year.

Although the fall campaign is the main fundraiser for the auxiliary, they also have led other projects over the years. They have been curtailed recently due to the COVID-19 global pandemic and its lingering effects.

Ellis noted that plans are underway for some other potential fundraisers, including a 50-50 draw on Facebook and a dinner theatre.

The auxiliary will continue to conduct the fall campaign without making door-to-door visits.

Ellis pointed out that equipment and other purchases will be part of the move to the new centre, which is expected to open in 2025.

There are several ways in which to make a donation: by cheque, made payable to St. Anne Centre Auxiliary and mailed to: St. Anne Centre, PO Box 30, Arichat, NS, B0E 1A0; in person, at St. Joseph’s Credit Union in Petit de Grat; or email transfer to sac.auxiliary@gmail.com (Include your name and civic address in the memo section, in order to receive your tax receipt.)
