ST. PETER’S: Following nearly a year of expansion and renovations, St. Peter’s Home Hardware will celebrate its official grand reopening on May 15. Owner Parker Stone is welcoming the public to attend the event, which will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony, giveaways, and door prizes.

Stone’s family has been a cornerstone of the local business community since the 1950s. He founded the hardware store 40 years ago, initially operating as a Trust Worthy Hardware, then transitioning to Pro Hardware, and eventually rebranding in the 1990s to the Home Hardware that residents know today.

The latest expansion began when the local dollar store – one of Stone’s tenants – required additional space. That need sparked a larger vision for the entire building.

“I was getting prepared to do theirs and then I said, ‘I better put some on my store too,’” Stone explained. “So, I did. And we doubled our space upstairs here. And put an extra 7,000 square feet of storage in the basement, it was good.”

In total, the expansion added approximately 4,500 square feet to both the upper and lower levels of the store. Since construction began in June 2023, Stone has overseen significant updates, including new flooring and fixtures throughout much of the building.

The grand reopening celebration will run from May 15 to May 19, aligning with the store’s 40th anniversary. Festivities will kick off on May 15 at 11 a.m. with a ribbon cutting, along with cake, sandwiches, and a variety of giveaways.

Stone said the store’s inventory has been significantly enhanced with an additional half a million dollars invested in stock.

“We have a few more lines and have a bigger flooring department now. We have bigger appliances and stoves and just more of different things, so people can get what they need here in town.”
