PORT HAWKESBURY: The U14 Caper Saints will be hosting a tournament at Tamarac Education Centre on February 3.
The schedule is not yet finalized, but it is hoped there will be eight teams participating.
“Normally, unless the format is changed, we’ll do a round robin with two four team pools and crossovers for the first and second place team,” said Dave MacIsaac, who coaches the Caper Saints with Madison Melnick .
“A lot of these kids have played for their schools, but they haven’t played in a weekend tournament. I’m impressed with them, and they’ve doing very well.”
The tournament will be under ‘triple ball’ rules, which limits serves to one per player in rotation. This is to keep the game free of one good server dominating the game.
MacIsaac encourages fans to come out and check out the action. It would also be great, he said, to have more locals become involved with coaching or becoming involved with Volleyball Cape Breton.
