July 30, 1949 – February 01, 2019 It’s with great sorrow that we announce the death of Greg Buckley of River Bourgeois on February 1, 2019 at the age of 69 years. Greg was predeceased by his loving adoptive parents, Carrie and Abraham Beranger – he always said there could not have been any better parents in the world. He was also predeceased by his infant son, Gregory Junior. He is survived by those he loved dearly; his daughter Amanda (Mandy) Mombourquette and son-in-law Floyd Mombourquette of Grande Greve, and his beloved grandchildren Julia Mombourquette and Ryan Buckley. Greg also leaves behind cherished sisters and brothers, who he all loved dearly. Greg enjoyed a good gadget, the result of his early training at Eastern Tech and his innate curiosity of all things mechanical. His ability to figure out problems was remarkable – from car problems to crosswords. Greg could always be counted on to get the best deals and to figure out the best solution for your car, your furnace, your construction project, or whatever needed fixing. Greg spent a lifetime following the great game – baseball was his passion and the Montreal Expos will always be his team (although the Toronto Blue Jays were a very close second). His great interest in baseball extended to local sports where he spent many years umpiring at ball fields across the county. Mandy remembers well that in Greg’s house, umpire indicators were sacred! Almost as sacred were Greg’s Habs – the Montreal Canadiens. If the Canadiens could win the Stanley Cup this year, Greg will be celebrating with them! Greg loved his family, and he loved his friends – he appreciated their support through good times and bad. Special thanks to George Bourque, Ernest and Eva Robertson, Dolores Roberts, his sister Margie Hiltz, and to all of the kind and generous people of River Bourgeois (and area) who enriched Greg’s life each and every day. Special thanks also to Richmond County Home Care workers and to the staff at the Strait Richmond Hospital. There is no visitation by request, a Graveside Service was held on Saturday February 9, 2019  at 2:00 pm in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, a Celebration of Life was held 2:30pm on February 9, 2019 at the Tara Lynn Community Centre. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made toward the Strait Richmond Health Care Foundation or a charity of choice. Funeral Arrangements are under the care and direction of Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St. Port Hawkesbury. Condolences may be addressed to the family at www. greensfuneralhome.ca
