PORT HAWKESBURY: The Strait Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to be celebrating their third year of the Celtic Oktoberfest – Cape Breton’s first ever all-inclusive craft beer, local food and Celtic music gathering!

Recognizing the growing strength of the emerging craft brewery sector, and its impact on tourism in the region, the Strait Area Chamber created Celtic Oktoberfest to showcase the best of Nova Scotian craft beer and Cape Breton food. The addition of a local winery broadens the appeal of the event which attracts approximately 400 people each year.

Packing in as much fun as possible for attendees, the four-hour festival will also feature two groups of extremely talented musicians – Chrissy Crowley and Jason Roach followed by the Jesus Murphy Band, a five-piece Irish band that promises to bring down the house!
“With such a vibrant Celtic culture and a growing German population in the region, this event tries to blend two traditions from each – the custom of a Celtic Kitchen Party and Oktoberfest – to create a unique Cape Breton experience,” explained Amanda Mombourquette, executive director of the Strait Area Chamber.

Celtic Oktoberfest 2016 ramps up on October 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre and runs until 10:30 p.m. For a $60 ticket (or $70 for non-members of the chamber), attendees receive unlimited access to the highest quality products from nine breweries, a winery, and 10 food establishments.

Here’s who will be at this year’s event: Big Spruce Brewing; Tatamagouche Brewing; Governor’s Pub & Eatery; Dancing Goat Café; Garrison Brewing; Breton Brewing; Clove Hitch Bar & Bistro; Miller’s Tap & Grill; Hell Bay Brewing; Authentic Seacoast; Fleur de Lis Tearoom; Buschmann Free Range Bio Farm; Uncle Leo’s Brewery; Spindrift Brewing; Cabot Links; Louie’s Cozy Corner; Boxing Rock Brewing; Eileanan Breagha Vineyards; NSCC Culinary School; and Barykin Bistro.
