Residents along Antigonish-Guysborough Road demand action

ANTIGONISH: County council is looking for provincial help in maintaining a local road.

Antigonish County Council recently received a notice from residents regarding the status of the Antigonish-Guysborough Road.

Warden Owen McCarron said residents have been concerned about the state of the road for some time, noting the road needs “a fair bit” of maintenance.

“They want to see some improvements made to the road,” McCarron said. “It’s a great road between Antigonish and Guysborough, in terms of linking the two communities.”

McCarron said the county is going to meet with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, as well as Antigonish MLA Randy Delorey and Guysborough-Eastern Shore-Tracadie MLA Lloyd Hines to see if they can make some progress.

“Residents have been frustrated because it’s a nice shortcut between the two communities and we’re going to be asking the provincial members to have a look at it,” the warden added.
