MABOU: Strathspey Performing Arts Centre is preparing the stage for the Old Fashioned Scottish Super Concert on Sunday, April 16. This annual fundraiser is the perfect addition to Easter weekend plans!

Strathspey Performing Arts Centre is one of many vibrant social profit organizations on Cape Breton Island and thrives to achieve sustainability through community donations, funding opportunities and fundraising efforts of their own, with events like the Old Fashioned Scottish Super Concert.

In 2016, Strathspey engaged the community through the Bi-Annual Super Concert Series, which featured a vast number of local performers sharing the stage through music. The Bi-Annual Super Concert Series took on a kitchen party atmosphere and was truly enjoyed by the audience!

This year’s super concert line-up includes Kenneth MacKenzie; Kevin Dugas; Jeff MacDonald; Colin Watson; John and Bill Pellerin; Cheryl MacQuarrie and Evelyn Cameron; Rodney MacDonald; Ian MacDougall; Patrick Gillis; the MacNeil Girls; Tracey MacNeil; Melody and Derrick Cameron; Sgiobalta; Pius MacIsaac; Mac Morin; Shelly Campbell; and many more!

Strathspey Performing Arts Centre would not exist without community support. The Think Cape Breton First Kitchen Party is a way of recognizing and showcasing local businesses, artists, crafters and more. The kitchen party will feature vendors from around the Island including Woven Cloth, Emily MacNeil Photography, Nature Lost and Found Art Gallery, Diane MacInnis Paintings, Little Things by Charlene, and DMF Vintage Photo Booth.

There will be a full service cash bar available for those 19 plus with local brews and liquors available from Breton Brewing Company and Glenora Distillery. Entertainment during the Think Cape Breton First Kitchen Party will be provided by the Very Young Mabou Dancers. These little ones will be in the lobby between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. doing a demonstration of Traditional Cape Breton Square Sets – accompanied by live music!
