At Acadian parade 1955 — Pictured is a float representing the community of West Arichat during the 1955 Feast of the Assumption, the internationally-recognized day of celebration and worship for Acadians.

In 1755, 6,000 to 8,000 Acadians were deported to the American colonies along the Atlantic coast from Massachusetts to South Carolina.
